Abstract

English is a foreign language that must be mastered by Indonesian students. By mastering English, they will easily communicate with foreigners because English is one of the international languages. One level of education that studies English is elementary school. The elementary school period is a beautiful time, full of stories and they like to play, such as running, which sometimes made children fall and get injured in any part of the body, such as knees, elbows, palms, and sometimes the head. By learning how to treat simple wounds, children can become more independent in caring for their wounds and instill the awareness to always be careful and avoid the dangers that can cause injuries. Learning English can be applied by explaining simple wound care to students in English. This can familiarize students with English and enable them to use it according to what they learn in other subjects. Elementary school is the first door of education, so learning English from an early age is very important. Therefore, the English lecturer at Fort De Kock University carried out community service at SDN 17 Manggis Ganting, Bukittinggi, on May 17, 2023 with an innovative learning method. As a result, students were active in the question and answer session and were able to master vocabulary and explain again how to treat simple wounds with simple sentences. It is recommended that the school, especially English teachers, encourage students to learn English and use it well in the future.
