UPAYA PENINGKATAN KEMAMPUAN MASYARAKAT DALAM MENINGKATKAN KUALITAS HIDUP DAN PENCEGAHAN TERJADINYA STROKE BERULANG PADA PASIEN STROKE DI PUSKESMAS ANDALAS DAN PUSKESMAS NANGGALO PADANG

Abstract

 Stroke is a medical emergency due to brain damage due to disruption of blood supply. In the USA, stroke is the third highest cause of death at 146,664 people per year. Meanwhile in Southeast Asia, 4.4 million people experience stroke, ± 5 million experience paralysis and 7.6 million people die from stroke (WHO, 2010). The prevalence of stroke in Indonesia was 10.9 per 1000 population in 2018 and there were 550,000 new patients with stroke and the third cause of death was 15.4% after cardiovascular and cancer. A disease that is feared by society because it causes a person to be helpless, feel useless and die. Efforts to treat stroke patients not only prevent death but also prevent recurrent strokes and improve their quality of life in their families and communities. Hypertension in the city of Padang accounts for 24.2% of non-communicable diseases, or as many as 150,591 people suffer from hypertension (Oktafianti, 2018). The health center with the highest number of people suffering from hypertension and stroke is the Andalas Health Center, followed by the Nanggalo Health Center. This community service activity aims to increase the community's ability to control hypertension and stroke through screening activities, health education, surveillance and monitoring and treatment of at-risk communities at the Nanggalo Health Center and Andalas Health Center in Padang in 2023
