MOVEMENT OF OPEN DEFECATION FREE (ODF) WITH HEALTHY LATRINES PILOT IN PUSKESMAS NANGGALO

Abstract

The implementation of Community-Based Total Sanitation (STBM) with five pillars will facilitate efforts to improve community access to better sanitation as well as change and maintain the sustainability of a clean and healthy living culture. Implementation of STBM in the long term can reduce morbidity and mortality caused by poor sanitation, and can encourage the realization of an independent and just healthy community. The Ministry of Health declares that Indonesia is free from open defecation in 2024. In 2021, 81.04% are free to open defecation (BABS) nationally, West Sumatra Province is 81.68% and Padang City has reached 93.07%, data from the Nanggalo Health Center in 2021 there are still households that do not have latrines, therefore it is necessary to work hard together so that in 2024 Indonesia is free of open defecation. The implementation method used is the pilot method of making healthy latrines and triggering STBM. The result of the activity is that there is an increase in access to healthy latrines in the Nanggalo Health Center Work Area.
