Abstract

According to the World Health Organization (WHO) data from 2021, data on exclusive breastfeeding globally decreased during the period 2015-2020. Dates contain a hormone similar to the hormone oxytocin, which is a hormone produced by the neurohypophysis. The hormone oxytocin is channeled through the blood to the breasts, this hormone will help stimulate contractions in the veins around the mother's breasts, thereby stimulating the mammary glands to produce breast milk. The purpose of the study was to determine the acceptability and nutritional content of date milk as a drink to meet the nutritional needs of breastfeeding mothers. Type of research Experiment. The sample in this study was 30 mothers who had babies aged 0-6 months, taken using a purposive sampling technique. Data analysis included univariate analysis with organoleptic testing. The results of the organoleptic test showed that 56.7% of respondents liked the date milk very much, 50% liked its color, 56.7% liked its aroma, 43.3% liked its texture, and 63.3% found it sweet. The study concludes that breastfeeding mothers prefer date milk and that it can help meet their nutritional needs. It is recommended that all breastfeeding mothers consider using date milk as an innovative solution to fulfill their nutritional requirements.
