ASPIRATION PNEUMONIA DUE TO NON-FATAL DROWNING
Abstract
Abstract
Nonfatal Drowning was defined as survival, after suffocation by immersion or subemersion. Aspiration pneumonia is one of the most common complications of nonfatal drowning. It was reported that a female patient, aged 50 years, drowned in the Pariaman sea, found aspiration pneumonia due to nonfatal drowning. Bronchial specimen were carried out, a type of gram-negative bacteria was found, namely Pseudomonas aeroginosa. Patients received meropenem and fluroquinolone (levofloxacin). Based on clinical evaluation, laboratory and chest X-ray, the patient improved after 7 days of treatment.
